Right now I'm getting to know patience.
I am beginning to wonder if God teaches us patience because when we wait, there is nothing we can do anymore.
We just have to wait.
It is like God makes us give everything to him because we have a hard time giving him everything on our own. And when we wait, we are for once in our lives proving that we cannot do anything but wait ... and give it to the one who really runs the show.
"Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow".
John Piper puts it like this:"Impatience is a form of unbelief. It's what we begin to feel when we start to doubt the wisdom of God's timing or the goodness of God's guidance"

Fling Socks and Fountains

A couple days ago some friends and I went to World's Fair Park (a cool place in Knoville with a big grassy area and fountains and stuff). We just wanted to get off campus and play so we went and ran through the fountains a couple times and started playing with a couple of those balls that are attached to a tale....or something. They are hard to explain but they look like this:
We had two of them and they would have kept us entertained for probably 30 minutes. But about 5 minutes after we were playing, 2 little kids asked if they could play with us. Before we knew it, there were about 10 little African American kids (cutest kids ever) chasing us around and racing us around the park. We played with them for about two hours laughing and teaching them how to throw the fling socks (which none of them fully understood but it was hilarious none the less).
It was the same kind of feeling I got when I was in Kenya. The feeling where I forgot about myself for a moment (two hours) and just ran around with kids that are growing up in a culture very different than mine.
It was awesome.
The End.

Oops.

I can't believe it has almost been a month since I've added anything to this. Oops.
There is so much going on that I tend to spend any free time by myself relaxing or doing other things and I don't update this at all. But things are going well! I love my volleyball team (we are 1-1 right now :-/). I LOVE my classes. It is just going to be a really solid semester class-wise and I am looking forward to that. I also have a great hall of girls and the RA stuff is already a blast.

As I predicted, I am incredible anxious about find out about Costa Rica. I think about it a lot...which I shouldn't...because I applied...that's all I can do. It is not in my hands any more.
But until then I am surrounded by some great friends who I love a lot.
